For instance, I love baking Christmas cake cookies, which seem to be everyone’s favorite, young & old.

However, cake cookies will definitely be at the top of my baking list this holiday.

Are You Ready For the Smell of Fresh Baked Christmas Cake Cookies?

Strawberry Cake Mix Cookies Recipe

Yields: 4 dozen


Betty Crocker Strawberry Cake Mix – 15.25 oz. box
Eggs – 2
Canola or Vegetable Oil – 1/2 cup
Powdered Sugar – 3/4 cup

Cooking Directions:

Step 1. Add cake mix, eggs and oil to medium mixing bowl, then mix until all ingredients are well combined.
Step 2. Chill dough in refrigerator for 1 hour.
Step 3. Line cookie sheets with parchment paper.
Step 4. Pour powdered sugar into small bowl and set aside.
Step 5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Step 6. After dough has chilled, roll dough into small balls {approx. 1 tbsp. sized}
Step 7. Roll dough balls around in powdered sugar, making sure they are well covered in sugar.
Step 8. Transfer dough balls to parchment lined cookie sheets.
Step 9. Bake for 7 minutes, or until done.
Step 10. Cool on cooling racks.

Yellow Cake Mix Cookies


  • Yellow cake mix – 1 box
  • Melted butter – 1/2 cup
  • Egg – 1
  • Vanilla Extract – 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar – 2 tablespoons
  • Cinnamon – 1 tablespoon

Cooking Directions:

Step 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and line cookies sheets with parchment paper.

Step 2. Combine cake mix, butter, egg and vanilla extract until smooth.

Step 3. In a small bowl, combine sugar and cinnamon.

Step 4. Scoop dough balls about the size of a golf ball and roll in cinnamon-sugar mixture and place on cookie sheets.

Step 5. Bake for 9-12 minutes and let cool!

Sugar Cake Cookies


  • Sugar – 2 cups
  • Eggs – 2
  • Vegetable shortening – 1 cup
  • Vanilla extract – 1 teaspoon
  • Buttermilk – 1 1/3 cup (divided)
  • Baking powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Flour – 4 cups (sifted)

Cooking Directions:

Step 1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.

Step 2. Mix together eggs and sugar, add shortening, mix again, then add vanilla extract.

Step 3. Combine baking powder with 1/3 cup buttermilk. Add regular buttermilk and flour to batter, alternating, just until combined.

Step 4. Next, add in baking powder & buttermilk mix and beat again.

Step 5. Using a large cookie scoop, spoon batter onto a greased baking sheet, 2 inches apart.

Step 6. Place in preheated oven for 10-15 minutes, just until bottom edges start to turn golden.

Step 7. Remove from oven and let rest on baking sheet for 5 minutes, before removing to racks to cool completely.

Step 8. Frost if desired.

Chocolate Cake Mix Cookies


  • Betty Crocker Super Moist devil’s food cake mix – 1 box
  • Vegetable oil – 1/3 cup
  • Vanilla – 1 teaspoon
  • Eggs – 2
  • Sugar – 1/4 cup

Cooking Directions:

Step 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for dark or nonstick pans).

Step 2. In large bowl, mix cake mix, oil, vanilla and eggs with spoon until dough forms.

Step 3. Refrigerate dough 15 to 30 minutes or as needed for easier handling.

Step 4. Shape dough into 1-inch balls; roll in sugar. On ungreased cookie sheets, place balls about 2 inches apart.

Step 5. Place in preheated oven and bake 9 to 11 minutes or until set.

Step 6. Cool 1 minute; remove from cookie sheets to cooling racks. Cool completely, about 30 minutes. Store tightly covered.


Lemon Cake Mix Cookies

Yields: 36 cookies


  • Lemon cake mix – 1 (18.25 ounce) package
  • Eggs – 2
  • Vegetable oil – 1/3 cup
  • Lemon extract – 1 teaspoon
  • Confectioners’ sugar for decoration – 1/3 cup

Cooking Directions:

Step 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2. Pour cake mix into a large bowl. Stir in eggs, oil, and lemon extract until well blended.

Step 3. Drop teaspoonfuls of dough into a bowl of confectioners’ sugar.

Step 4. Roll them around until they’re lightly covered.

Step 5. Once sugared, put them on an ungreased cookie sheet.

Step 6. Place in preheated oven and bake 6 to 9 minutes, or until bottoms are light brown, and insides chewy.
